Frequently asked questions

Just a few questions we are asked everyday
Saniflo's are remarkable products alowing you to improve your home by adding that much needed extra toilet, right through to an entire bathroom or even a kitchen in places that are impossible with traditional plumbing
They are easy to install and simple to maintain.
Some of our customers in Yorkshire have been enjoying the benefits that Saniflo's bring for over 25 years without ever having to replace their original unit.
  1. 1
    Do Saniflo's Smell?
Correctly used and installed Saniflo units should not emit any smells. The latest models also have a carbon filter incorporated into the air inlet valve. We also recommend a regular cleaning routine to keep your Saniflo in optimum condition. Sani Pump Services recommend that you use thin bleach High foaming brands should be avoided as the agitation could cause temporary difficulties in the pumping operation.
  2. 2
What can I flush into them?
90% of our call outs to help our customers are due to something not suitable being flushed into the unit. To keep it really simple, rather than a long list of what you have to avoid is to say, only put down what comes out of you and toilet paper! This way you will have years of trouble free service.
  3. 3
How can I unblock my Saniflo?
We are of course, the approved engineers for North and West Yorkshire, so we would rather that you call us in the event of a blockage. Why should you have to deal with what goes on inside the box. It isn't very pretty and we of course carry all the right tools and approved parts to get the job done within the hour.

  5. 5
My Saniflo is buzzing and not pumping what should I do?
If you Saniflo stops working correctly you should if possible isolate the unit from the mains- usually putting removing the fuse/switching off at the fuse spur (small white box which cable from Saniflo is wired into-may have a red light) , unplug unit (if a Sanivite). And do not put any more water/waste into the Saniflo as you could have a nasty flood on your hands. Also by turning off the unit you will hopefully protect the motor from any further damage and of course call us! Hopefully you just have a blockage and we will have it sorted cleaned and up and running again in les than an hour (80% of cases)
  6. 6
